These items, often including barrels, letter openers, and pendants are frequently marked to commemorate the ship's service, particularly its participation in the Battle of Jutland in 1916. HMS Valiant was the only ship in the battle of Jutland to take no damage. The ship was decommissioned in 1945 and sold for scrap in 1948.
